this repository is the webiste (github pages). The index.md file will be displayed. But the book and sources itself should be held in repo "docs"...
Or is it reasonable to use a github page at all?

I guess it makes sense to use the root path only for adminstrative purpose, and the docs path for the publishing of documents.
So the index.md should also be part of the docs as well. If needed at all. (I don't think it's needed)
