Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Some publishers (Berkeleyside, El Sol) use a specific tag, such as top-story, to determine which posts are displayed on the homepage. If a Homepage Posts block is set to show only 1 such story, then it will always be the latest story.
There may be cases where that one story is too old to warrant showing on the homepage, in which case it would be better to show none at all. But untagging that latest story would simply cause the homepage to show the next-oldest story; all such posts would have to be untagged.
Describe the solution you'd like
If the Homepage Posts block included a date filter, such as "Only stories from the last X days", then the oldest story would organically scroll off the homepage, without any editing or untagging needed.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Editors could edit the Homepage Posts block to use the "Specific Posts" field, though some publishers would prefer editors stay out of the homepage at all costs.
A reusable block could also be inserted into the homepage, and editors could edit the reusable block instead of the homepage. However, this seems unintuitive and cumbersome.
