the setup for the distinct areas is now everywhere the same simple but effective solution provided by the TypoScript.object lib.tx_news.
Some alternating examples would be nice probably for

  • never changing banners
  • banners depending on news-category
  • banners depending on news-tags
  • banners depending on content-category
  • some dynamic content, where arguments are passed to another extension-class

Add more examples in the comments, if you've different ideas!
