  • Projectile isn't UT3 projectile
  • Alt fire beam kind of curves at times and almost looks like you're using auto aim or something which seems a little strange, probably need to compare both games visually to see for sure....it actually does curve like that in UT3 so case closed
  • When using UT2004RPG if magical weapon chance is 0% the UT3 Link model appears but always has 0 ammo even with ammo pickups collected, and with magical weapon chance at least at 1% the stock UT2004 link appears and does have ammo....might be an issue with UT2004RPG itself that can't be solved but I don't understand why it's only the Link Gun that has this problem......it does appear to be ALL link guns that do this and anything remotely related to them so it's an issue with RPG, I have found a way around this though, using the Outsider mutator with Ballistic Weapons support you can use the BW weapon selection UI to select the link even though it's shown as no ammo, I've also used Outsider without BW being active and been able to do this
  • Muzzle flash is nowhere near the same as UT3, on UT3 the center has several blue rings with blue green electricity bolts coming away from it
  • During alt fire on UT3 blue tendrils appear from the outer part of the gun and go towards the middle
  • the Alt fire beam is quite a bit different in UT3 and looks more like electricity than just a plain green beam
  • Plasma on UT3 is more of a white blue green for both fire modes
  • On UT2004 the projectiles are not coming from the gun barrel but instead just appear at the center of the screen
  • The alt fire beam is coming from slightly above the gun barrel in UT2004, on UT3 it comes directly from the barrel
  • 1 Link Charge is worth 50 shots in UT2004 and only worth 40 in UT3...given 2004 doesn't have the node buster orb maybe this should be left as is, 10 extra shots don't go that much further anyway
  • 3rd Person muzzle flash for alt fire in UT2004 is really large, in UT3 it's only the size of the gun barrel and looks more like white green electricity than a flash
  • Alt fire impact in UT2004 causes burn marks and green sparks, in UT3 we get a quick white green explosion that while sustained in one spot has pulsing beams of light outwards, upon stopping we see a small circle that could best be described as a white green miniature Leviathan main cannon explosion
  • Primary fire in UT2004 causes the same burn and sparks as alt fire, in UT3 we get no burn mark and a small white green flash that looks as though the shot pierces through the wall and goes into it along with a few sparks
  • Corona seems to be way off from where it probably is supposed to be, it looks like it's coming from the arm more than the gun.

Another difference is that in UT3 you can't link up, instead it works by proximity. But a nice visual effect is needed in UT2004 to make that usable.

I forgot about that, that little lightning effect that goes between characters who are in range of one another, guess that actually makes the link in UT3 more useful since both benefit and can use it at the same time rather than only 1 person doing damage

That's not really true either. It only works if one of the two people are firing. As soon as both start firing the link is broken. So it's more of an ammo saving thing.

Still that's useful, could it be replicated in UT2004 for the UT3 Link you think?

It certainly could, it's not even that hard. But I find it real confusing and not a large enough improvement over the UT2004 system to make spending time on it worthwhile. In other words, patches welcome.

Link primary seems to be consistent with UT3 on vehicle damage but alt fire isn't, in UT3 I get 4 damage consistently with a tap and in UT2004 8 consistently with a tap, also the Manta is pushed by the alt fire in UT2004 but not UT3

Max amount of ammo in UT3 I've had take to build a node has been 97, in UT2004 it takes around 110+ another 3-7 ammo (ONS-Urban locker gives 110 ammo and I still run out just before the node finishes, I don't know any other map that gives more than that because it's usually only 50)

Link alt in UT3 doesn't do anything to the Cicada, in UT2004 it appears to be doing very very little knockback

Just noticed the corona appears to be coming from the arm and not the gun, eventually I'm going to have to start looking into these too.
