Get the latest version by depending on an action that installs it. Debian (and, by extension, Ubuntu) are known for shipping ancient, decrepit, dinosaur versions of applications that have long since been depricated and are probably riddled with unpatched vulnerabilities. Don't EVER link against the versions a debian based distro provides.
