Ridiculous, when search reveals a vast amount of hits that cannot be sorted! #7306

Sorry guys for this rant!

I'm running NewPipe for quite a long time now and enjoying it because of its ad free channels and vids and its simple UI.

However, when it comes to search for videos, I could cry and immediately close the app and swear, I would never use it again. Why bother? Because the search list gives me a large amount of hits which are sorted in a way that is completely unusable. E.g. search for Kitfox games and try to find their latest video or search for Skoda Karoq and try again to get the latest information. Yes, after quite a while you may get a strike, most if the time not.

To be fair, Youtube behaves quite the same way, however, I can sort or filter or whatever you name it, for the upload date or similar things which makes Youtube much more user friendly.

Unfortunately, when using the tiles view in search result, the time when a video was relased (1 week, 2 months etc) is cut off and I cannot reliable distinguish if its a month or a week or even year since the video was uploaded, simply because the period is not availabe, cut off, just see the number. When using the list view, things get better of course.

I know there are already tickets here on Github that deal with that topic but unfortunately a solution has never been implemented into this otherwise great app.

So please, please get this task solved any time soon as it will make this app much more user-friendly and convenient!

Thanks, and sorry for being that negative, but just got pissed again after trying to find videos without being able to sort or filter them.

Duplicate of #2251. Also, please fill in the template properly. You're not supposed to remove it.

Please don't be rude. This is an open source app and devs work here for free. If you have time to contribute, consider opening a PR. Continuous begging won't reproduce new time.

... and continuous saying there is no time for any new and especially this feature will move many attracted users away from NewPipe again.

Sorry, but I can understand that time, especially spare time is not endless to develop a software like this, but this feature is missing for quite a while now and continously linking to this and that ticket does not help either.

Of course I could contribute and the rest of the world either, but why on earth should I learn a new programming language and dive into a new piece of software just to get a single feature being implemented?

My understanding is that sbdy already has done the job for filtering, but this contribution did not find it's way into tbe main coding, right?

2 points here:

  1. The YT search is used that's why you get the same results, we can't do anything here
  2. Filters will be implemented in Search filter UI #2251

Sorry, but I can understand that time, especially spare time is not endless to develop a software like this, but this feature is missing for quite a while now and continously linking to this and that ticket does not help either.

  1. You can maybe try adding the feature instead of complaining in a new ticket - which in fact removes maintainer resources - by having to go through tickets instead of adding new features to the app
  2. An endless amount of the same tickets helps no-one.
Simply give Search filter UI #2251 an upvote.

My understanding is that sbdy already has done the job for filtering, but this contribution did not find it's way into tbe main coding, right?

Btw #2251 is also on the prioritized new features list

Closing as duplicate of #2251.
