Can't pause playback while buffering

Steps to reproduce the bug

1. Go to settings> appearance> player notification> change "play pause buffering" to "play pause"

2. Now turn off mobile data while playing video in background
3. Wait till playback get ceased due to network error
4. Click on play pause button
5. Nothing happens and playback resumes if you turn data back on

Also true for playing video

1. Play any video
2. Turn off data
3. Buffering animation appears and there is no way to pause the video and stop buffering further

Note: the above is also true if you have poor network connection enough to make the app to buffer

Expected behavior

I should be able to stop further buffering of video/audio

Actual behavior

Doesn't register user's request to cease buffering.
