Feature Description

HDR (High Dynamic Range) support allows images to be displayed with a wider range of colors and brightness, providing a more realistic and immersive visual experience. This feature would allow Vanilla OS 2 Orchid users to enjoy HDR content on compatible monitors such as movies, games and photos.

Rationale

Implementing HDR support on Vanilla OS 2 Orchid would provide several benefits to users:

Enhanced visual experience: HDR provides a clearer, more detailed and more realistic image with more vivid colors and deeper contrast.
Support for a wide range of content: More and more content is available in HDR format, including movies, games and photos.
Compatibility with modern hardware: HDR monitors are becoming more and more affordable, and HDR support is an essential feature of many modern devices.

Vanilla uses gnome, which uses mutter, which doesn't support HDR.

So this needs to be implemented in mutter.

Maybe HDR will be available in GNOME 48 (march 2025) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-sxkx6Oqi8&t=865s
