Getting error in building SoundFlower source code through Terminal

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open a terminal window and cd to the Soundflower/Tools folder
2. Run ./build.rb

We are getting below error after step 2 (running ./build.rb):
ruby: invalid option -U (-h will show valid options)

Versions:
SoundFlower: 1.4
MAC: 10.6.8
XCode:3.2

Please suggest root cause and solution of above mentioned error.

Apart from this, please let me know whether we can build the SoundFlower source 
code through directly using XCode or not (without using build.rb from terminal 
window).
