Is this an issue specifically with Appium Inspector?

  • I have verified that my issue does not occur with Appium, and should be investigated as an Appium Inspector issue

Is this issue still present if you follow the installation guide?
I was able to install the app using the same file on macOS 14.7 with M1 chipset, so I wonder what makes your system different.

@eglitise I am dealing with the same issue as well. I was able to fix the issue on my end. There are missing steps in the installation guide. Once you control click and choose open, it leads you to the warning window "Appium Inspector" Not Opened with the options to click Done or Move to Trash. What I did to figure out the next step, was to click on the question mark in the upper right corner of the warning window and follow the instructions to add it to the exceptions list and then I got the popup in step 2. I didn't follow the alternate way of running 'xattr -cr "/Applications/Appium Inspector.app"' maybe that is a better way. I know having to add it to the exceptions list does not sit easy with everyone so if there was a way to not have to do that, that would be awesome.

It looks like... Apple added a new step to open an app downloaded from the internet, not via App Store as a dmg. The latest might require opening the settings and the privacy & security tab. We may also need to do more steps for the signing as well to avoid this behavior? (we might need to learn more about app signing...)

We need to update to the latest version, but https://inspector.appiumpro.com/ over a browser is easier if it's ok

Then, it is notarization work related for macOS I guess. https://developer.apple.com/developer-id/
We're not sure how previous singing worked, but perhaps we should learn how to configure it with an electron builder on CI. Probably https://github.com/electron/notarize helps today.
