I'm working on a wireless streamdeck solution with the Raspberry Pi 5 using companion Satellite and I've encountered an issue - for some reason when I boot the PI5 with the streamdeck connected via usb-c, the UI will flicker on and off continuously as if it is struggling to render the screen. However, if I simply disconnect the streamdeck for a few seconds and connect it again, satellite works as it should. Alternatively, if I wait and plug the streamdeck in after the boot sequence completes, the display also works as it should.
I've tried using different USB hubs, different USB cables, re-installing satellite completing on a fresh flash-drive, and trying to restart the companion satellite service from terminal. None of these have worked, the only way to fix it is to replug/wait after boot.
For the project I'm working on, and in general, manually unplugging or waiting for the service to boot will not be a viable option as the streamdeck is enclosed in a case.
Has anyone encountered this issue?
