re-write the specs so that they can (eventually) flow into the RFC Internet Draft format.

consider the pandoc pattern of writing in markdown and generating the RFC docs (XML, TXT, HTML).

From the looks of the README, it seems like you've succeeded in implementing this?
Because the markup looks amazing, one of the best examples of RFC-style spec I've seen on Github. What tool did you end up using? (Assuming you're generating RFC docs from it). Pandoc?
