Hacker News Pickup Rate Web App Analytics

Here is what you should expect when posting new app on Hacker News. The response is great unless your app will not get to the "news" page. This is one reason why I wanted to know when is good time to post new story. There couple few things to remember:

• Optimize for Google Analytics; it's free and gives you a ton of information about your audience
• Optimize for 1200 width; most people on HN use laptops (viewport statistics confirm this assumption)
• Optimize for 600 height; most people on HN use laptops (viewport statistics confirm this assumption)
• Optimize for Chrome; most people use Chrome, Firefox, and Safari
• Optimize for Mac OS X; yep, Apple rules on HN
• Optimize for Robots (!?!); unfortunately, Internet is full of robots, they will be the one that eat your CPU quota
• Optimize for Heavy Load; deploy in cloud
• Optimize for High Budget; just for the first two days after releasing the software, later will go down from ~$5 per day to ~$0.10 per day
