I've been having this issue, too. It seems Youtube tweaked something and now is a little further ahead in this arms race.

What's worked for me is refreshing my network. Either using a VPN like ProtonVPN or Mullvad and changing servers or just disabling your data or wifi long enough you receive a new IP on reconnect (10-15 seconds should be long enough) should do it.

I should mention I also have Developer Options enabled on my phone and am currently using the Sensors Off tile option. Does what it says on the tin, it's a button toggle in your drop down menu like your flashlight or Wifi that cuts all sensor feeds on your device. It prevents most forms of real-time tracking- as well as taking pictures, videos, or hearing your side on calls, hence why it is an easy toggle.

Youtube being a Google product might not like that they can't see my location or face 24/7. Might not be relevant, but it's still worth saying.

Weird thing is, the only time the VPN works is when I set it to the US, if I set the location to the UK it still goes into an infinite blocked loop.

Tried turning the WiFi off to no luck...

Same issue for me. Every video is the same. Has been going on for around 3-4 days or so.

Was waiting for an update to the YouTube plugin to fix it but none has arrived, and it's holidays so I'll bet I'll have to wait some more.

Looking forward to an update that fixes the issue

A current working workaround that I've found was connecting to a VPN specifically in the US, it only works from there. I've tried to connect to a VPN in the UK but it didn't work for some reason.

My guess is that its mostly low-quality ips (for now).
We're investigating it further after Christmas, since most users are not affected yet, and we've been unable to reproduce it.
This issue is going to take a bit more effort to get right.

Honestly my guess is that they blocked Mobile Carrier IPV4 adresses around the 109.XXX.XXX.XXX area, with the addendum being that popular content crearors such as Asmongold or NCS, will also help trigger that block.

I thought my SIM's mobile data usage tracking was busted and tried to reset my Mobile account tracking (that's what they called it) aaaand nothing, fucking about with the APN settings proved useful for 2 seconds before the block reappeared, so the tracking is clearly live at all times, Furthermore, the block itself didn't show up until i updated, meaning it clearly targets the current version of Grayjay and the Youtube plugin, since they clearly saw the code and figured we won't be able to roll back, in addition, WiFi has no issues at all, meaning they figured out something or other about Mobile Carriers.

I dunno. I've fucked around with this issue for the past 3 days and this is all the data i can provide. Account made just to chime in.

I am experiencing an issue with video playback on my home Wi-Fi. On mobile data, everything works well. I noticed that the problem only occurs with certain videos:

Videos uploaded more than a week ago play without issues.
Newer videos (less than a week old) and very old ones (over three years old) do not play.
I tested different alternatives, but only the original YouTube app works properly.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help troubleshoot this issue.

Tried mobile data now after letting the phone be off wifi for a while. It indeed seem to work with most videos now. So issue seem to be more related to WiFi. It didn't work for me either on phone or the new desktop app (for Linux)

I tried mobile data but still seem to face a blocking issue. Like I mentioned earlier, only US VPN seems to work for me

Hello everyone!

The same block happened on my end, too. I tried both logging in and logging out. Both Android and PC. On PC, the YT videos worked for the first half hour, but I couldn't watch the videos ever since.
