This is a feature request.

It'd be nice to have:

  • appropriate status icons displayed next to the files in the solution explorer
  • have a "Git" menu item for right-click in the solution explorer, containing most popular options (commit/diff/etc)

Thanks

This project http://gitscc.codeplex.com/ does more or less what you want. Maybe it can be integrated to gitextensions?

My features would be:

  • see / change my branch in Toolbar
  • beeing able to use buttons without open file (buttons should not be disabled!)

sirrus: you already can see current branch in toolbar, use "Show current branch in Visual Studio" checkbox in the Settings dialog.

I'll improve plugin integration in a few days, it's annoying to have to select something in a Solution Explorer just for unlocking toolbar -- this is already fixed locally, will be committed soon. Feel free to add another usability issues or wishes to be fixed at one.

Some improvement was committed with Visual Studio toolbar does not show current branch name
task.
