Out of curiosity, I downloaded PBF files for Iran and Colombia and then used osmtogtfs to extract their transit data. The resulting feed for Iran is almost deserted and there are only 3 agencies (including two dups) and 33 routes defined! However, Colombia has a way better situation. There are 50 agencies and 307 routes defined.
First of all I find it really cool that we are in the point we we can simply get a file run osmtogtfs and get an overview of the status of a whole country !!
I think that clearly shows that we are making progress 😄
On the other hand, the results clearly show that there is a need for more open information. There are lots of dicussions on open data in Europe but I have never heard about such in Colombia; i guess it is the same situation in Iran.
However, that is exactly what we expected. A big gap of information that we can fill. Now we have a point of comparison for the next 3 years. Lets see how much progress we can make 🚀
