I really need this feature, but I don't know how to merge it.

I doubt this will be merged due to this fork's goal to not touch rTorrent's consensus layer, not to mention the warnings about these patches being experimental that the author provided.

If you'd like to merge these into your source tree, you'll need to first convert them into a diff(1) compatible format (these look like Mercurial patches?), and then fix the inevitable merge conflicts, as these patches are well over a decade old.
