Describe the bug
Video Doorbell 2 Pro with homekit produces very weird and loud "interference noise" on audio.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Setup Video Doorbell 2 Pro with Scrypted.
  2. Enable Homekit Plugin
  3. Set Homekit RTP sender to ffmpeg ("Scrypted" mode does send no audio at all)
  4. Get very weird and loud "interference noise" on audio when viewing a video.

Expected behavior
No interference noise. I tried "Transcode Audio" but without luck. Same weird interference noise.

I have also the exact same issue.
When viewing HKSV (recorded after motion) I can see video, but audio is mangled, you can't hear anything
Live view is working, when I press the talk button, audio is coming from the Ring doorbell, however no audio is going back to Homekit.
When viewing the recorded clips in scripted, audio works.

So in short:
In live view, no audio is coming in, when clips are saved in HKSV, audio is mangled, when viewing clips directly in scripted, audio works.

I've ordered the new generation of the doorbell pro to test out, to see if this solves the issues, we got good return policies here in The Netherlands.

Scrypted Installed on Mac mini M4 (2024 model)

Client (please complete the following information, if applicable):
iPhone, IOS 18.1, Home App

Update: I tried the 'new' Doorbell Pro 2, 2024 edition, same issue.

I have the same issue - when viewing the recorded HKSV clips in Home app the sound kind of jumps from time to time, those distortions make hearing voice impossible.

Scrypted runs in Docker container on the Raspberry Pi 5, connected via Ethernet. Doorbell Pro 2 shows good WiFi signal in the Ring app.

I am encountering the same issue with two interior cameras. Audio in Scrypted is just fine, but when I view on Home app, it's popping in and out. I have two wired floodlight plus cameras and a wired doorbell that are working perfectly. Tried FFmpeg and Transcode Audio, but no change. Do I need to install/configure a separate FFmpeg plugin?

Restarted Ring Plugin. No change. Disabled and re-enabled the device in Homekit plugin and now I have no incoming audio at all. (EDIT: Changed to FFmpeg and audio came back but still popping) Pushing talk in Home app delivers voice perfectly over the camera. Video seems unaffected, with the exception of some random artifacts here and there on Home App.

Running scrypted v0.122.0 ring plugin v0.0.144 homekit plugin v1.2.61 scrypted core v0.3.87 snapshot plugin v0.2.55 webrtc plugin v0.2.55 on a Synology DS920+ DSM v7.2.2-72806 Update 2.

Well, crap. I have one getting delivered tomorrow to replace an old Nest Hello doorbell and was hoping to use it with this plugin. Not having the problem with the 2021 version of Ring Video Doorbell Wired.

UPDATE: Got the new 2024 Video Doorbell Pro hooked up and it's having the no audio issue in HKSV.

At the risk of adding another "me too", I have 5 ring floodlight cams (Mix of pro and regular) and I have no audio in live view, and mangled audio in recordings. No issues previously.

Scrypted v0.122.0, Ring plugin v0.0.144.

Yes I can confirm that also a newly ordered 2024 Video Doorbell Pro works fine, no issue at all. So it seems that the issues is mainly with the Doorbell Pro 2.

My 2024 Video Doorbell Pro has popping audio in HKSV. I noticed that it shows “Wired Doorbell Pro/Video Doorbell Pro 2” under product name in the Ring app.

It says the same thing on mine and no pre-roll either!
