it works in manjaro but says display not supported in arch.

You are probably using Wayland on your Arch installation. This only works on X11

No I am using X11 on arch.

Hmm. What GPU are you using?

Oh I remember this issue. You probably have different X11 drivers on your installations. I always forget which one is the right one. You can choose from these three on Arch Linux xf86-video-fbdev xf86-video-vesa xf86-video-intel. Not sure which one worked. Maybe you can just check which one is installed on Manjaro

xf86-video-intel is installed in manjaro but same in arch too.

xf86-video-intel is not working. Now what should I do?

Can you check for both installations what other xf86-video packages are installed? It is possible that X11 doesn't even use the -intel one

xf86-video-amdgpu xf86-video-ati xf86-video-intel xf86-video-nouveau xf86-video-vmware are installed in manjaro but these also not worked.

I just tested it out on my own system and having no xf86-video driver at all works on my end. It will fallback to X.Org's modeset driver, which is probably fine.

Hello, I'm piggybacking this issue since it seems we're having a similar config:

OS: Arch Linux x86_64
GPU: Intel Core Processor
WM: Xfwm4

I tried with and without xf86-video-intel and always get the same error message in the terminal:

➜ ~ vibrantLinux
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error'
what(): this system has no supported displays
[1] 826 IOT instruction (core dumped) vibrantLinux

Any idea what could be causing that? Cheers <3

You might have other xf86-video- packages installed. Try removing those as well. X11 will then just talk with your GPU driver directly

I only know that it is supported by the i915 kernel driver.
It seems to work fine on my 7th Gen Intel CPU/iGPU when there is no driver installed, so I am not sure about your setup

My setup uses the i915 kernel driver, here are the details:

       *-display

Is there any extra information I can provide to troubleshoot the issue?
