V/victory/peace sign #2643
Comments
A proposal I came up with a while ago as part of a larger suite of hand icons: The problem was, it only had four fingers! Opinion was divided. In the interest of balance, here are some five-finger versions that match the current style. I'm biased, but I think the three-finger version reads better at low-resolution. |
I think the issue is keeping the 5-fingered variant's base too wide; in real life, once you bend your thumb inwards, your palm width will decrease dramatically. |
I don't disagree, but I imagine with all those diagonal lines it'll look less crisp. |
Consider the Vulcan salute 🖖. That one doesn't work on a hand with 3 fingers, and requires 4. Thus for consistency, 4 fingers is the way to go. |
Yeah, agreed, we could do something like this, but it will just never look quite right: |
Icon name
v-sign
Use cases
The V sign is a gesture in which the index and middle fingers are raised and parted to make a V shape while the other fingers are clenched.
The version with the other fingers facing outwards and away from the signer are generally seen to mean victory or peace and not seen as an insult. This version of the gesture is present in other icon families.
