Playing around last night, I thought that I might check to see what would happen if you drag a BlueSCSI compatible image created in Disk Jockey (https://diskjockey.onegeekarmy.eu/) over to InfinateMac.
You can drag it over, and are presented with a dialog box asking if you'd like to format the image (which is expected behavior when using BasaliskII or SheepShaver), but if you proceed with the operation, you get the following error:
What do you suppose the issue might be?
Thank you!

Before creating this post, I ensured that the behavior is repeatable across different versions of MacOS (tested under 7/8/9) and on both 68040 and PPC base machines. Just didn't want this to be a problem on one specific version of the OS with one specific hardware config and have raised the alarm for nothing.
Host machines tested were two different Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs using Google Chrome.
I tried a HFS blank pre-formated image from here and it shows up as a CD (which now thinking about it makes sense as that's what the feature first supported)
Maybe a check for if filename ends with .hda - present it as a hdd instead of a cd.
Edit: This does work under vmac based emulators (as everything is a disk there i believe)
As a test, I used Disk Jockey to create several different types of images... and all of them showed up as CDs or as unformatable volumes. Downloaded a prerolled image from Savage Taylor, and it mounts locked.
