Technical Interoperability and Troubleshooting Domain Exploratory Group Proposal

To help coordinate standards bodies identify and build tools to be built-in to various components to enable troubleshooting in case of errors, identifying the source.

Using the Carousel Use Case Scenario:
A user is using the Meta metaverse over their cellular data connection / Wi-Fi / Hotspot and they are having problems with their avatar showing up properly, or with their audio (sending or receiving)

Helping a user determine where is a problem?

• Meta's metaverse?
• VR goggles?
• Headset/bluetooth audio?
• Avatar repository or other 3rd party avatar tool being used for cross network consistency?
• Mobile phone / operating system?
• Carrier network?
• Long haul network (between carriers/countries)?

• 91 ‘large’ companies (>100 employees)
• 219 ‘small’ companies (>100 employees)
• 28 SDOs

There was extensive discussion around how to evaluate whether a nonprofit or SDO would be eligible to be exempt from paying dues. I (Josephine) suggested that one of the criteria might be to look at how much impact the nonprofit/SDO has had on the community and/or industry at large, and put forth OMI as a perfect example of this: OMI's current research and work in avatar interoperability, 3D asset and wearables interoperability and more, contribute to creating an infrastructure that make decisions around standards possible (this was also discussed at OMI's weekly meeting today). There was resounding agreement that this was a good example of the type of community contribution that would warrant exemption from dues-paying. There will be follow-up conversation about creation of criteria. I'll be included in the email thread to continue that conversation and am happy to pass along the info/discussion.
