Integrating Twilio

Twilio allows to send message:

• via Whatsapp (if they use it, we tested and it works with SL phones)
• via SMS (if they don't use WhatsApp)

Recipients could get a message when:

• a text message telling them the payment has been made with instructions how to confirm
• for their birthday (to be more personal and as we have their bdays in the system)
• onboarding of new recipients
• ...

Some things to discuss along the way:

• Alphanumeric Sender
• How do recipients answer, as most local numbers in SL are not capable of responding to an international number (workaround: include a local number in the text, which they can contact by phone or SMS)?
• How to trigger messages (i.e. all after payment, this has to be manually done)

For the future and discussion: Twilio would also allow automated calls and speech to text recognition (i.e. a recipients could also call and say: I confirm).
