Wont launch #20
Comments
Hey there, If you have then the most likely problem is that you have launched the game in Desktop mode and now it's not opening in Gaming mode [or opened with external monitor connected]. In this case to fix it do the following:
At that point go directly to Gaming mode and run the game from there. Make sure to disconnect any external monitors for the first launch. If you run it from Desktop mode for the first time you will end up with the same exact issue. Alternatively you could try to run this script: bash <(curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/krupar101/f4london_steam_deck_ini/refs/heads/main/optimize_folon_steam_deck.sh) It was created to optimize Fallout London on Steam Deck. It should also bring back all the .ini files to a working condition. If you decide to go for that please select the recommended preset at first. If you confirm it works you can always play around later :) |
Hey thanks for the fast response I got it worked out I'm not 100 percent
how but I think it was to do with dolphin and the installer having
different directory names means things didn't get installed in the right
locations so coppied fo4 to the same location as folon and I reinstalled
the folon to make sure it didn't bug out and it started up first go when I
got home from work did the graphics adjustment and have been playing for
2hrs or so now
Also there was no update available after installation I checked twice not
sure why but I don't really care because it works thanks for all your help
and the guide I was so disappointed that I wasn't going to be able to play
folon because I don't have a pc so I was so happy I found this guide online

Hey there,
There could be a couple reasons for that. First we need to make sure that
you have actually ran the script till the end. Many people just click
"play" in the GoG installer as soon as they see the option. First please
confirm that you have done steps 9 to 12 from the website guide:
https://overkill.wtf/fallout-london-steam-deck-1-click-installer/
If you have then the most likely problem is that you have launched the
game in Desktop mode and now it's not opening in Gaming mode [or opened
with external monitor connected].
In this case to fix it do the following:
1. Go to Desktop mode
2. Run the script one more time
3. Select your version of the game (GoG or Steam)
4. Select "Update" as the action that you want to perform.
5. The script will launch Heroic Games Launcher -> Close it as soon as
it opens. We don't need to do anything inside it.
6. The script will launch FOLON installer -> Close it as soon as it
opens. We don't need to do anything inside it.
7. Wait for the "All steps were completed successfully!" screen.
At that point go directly to Gaming mode and run the game from there. Make
sure to disconnect any external monitors for the first launch. If you run
it from Desktop mode for the first time you will end up with the same exact
issue.

Hey, This exact error was also documented in the PDF guide published on Overkill website (page 56 & 57) in the section "The game crashes on startup". If you would want to properly reinstall the game you can follow the pdf guide from the beginning as it is more in-depth and covers solutions to common problems right next to the installation steps on which those problems occur. Otherwise, have fun and mind the gap! |
Followed your guide step by step and did everything but I can't get the game to start up I'm trying to open fallout 4 in game mode and it's the steam goty version but it just won't start the game got it on proton experimental it just goes back to the library
