Works/tested on ruby 2.1.5/2.2.4 (works probably from 1.9 to 2.xx) and Gimp 2.8.14 / 2.9.1 - Linux (Ubuntu)
can not mix with the 2 versions of gimp, at compile time, API is different, nothing awful in plug-ins (scripts) code, though
lots of constants names have changed, like BACKGROUND_FILL to FILL_BACKGROUND for example
Renamed :menupath key to :menulabel in register method
Added Item Class/feature
Added TextLayer module (extended in Layer Class on instance of them which respond true to :is_text_layer)
There is no "text layer" type in gimp C code, so a TextLayer is a Layer Class with some specialized methods
Added 'to_bool' method on Integer
Added helper methods on Image, Layer, Edit, Item (overwrited "==" )
also idiomatic ruby method like "method?" on Display, Drawable, Item, Gradient, Image, Palette, Selection
Fixed Access module (working nice now but looks ugly)
Fixed errors/crashes due to changes in splat operator behavior since ruby 1.9
Added possibility to have an Image context procedure not appearing in menus (for shortcuts)
when not working on an image just register a proc without args in the block
must be a better way !
Fixed Brushes/Palettes/Gradients/Patterns dialogs
Gtk Console + Irb is working now but needs to be rewamped, added a (very) basic browse button
Fixed typo in rbgimpproceduraldb.c : 'gimp_procedural_db_proc_val' was 'gimp_procedural_db_proc_arg' twice :-)
Added, reworked, updated ruby plug-ins
Added optional Shoes dialogs feature
https://github.com/Shoes3/shoes3
"shoes_guide.rb" guide and tutorial in shoes (needs a serious update)
"shoes_console.rb" a shoes console (WIP), alternative to ruby-fu-console
"shoes_newRubyFu.rb" an app which builds a skeleton plug-in
+ plugins : a ShoesFu module to interface between Gimp/Ruby and Shoes, using Open3 library
plugin are working by pair : one file for gimp, one for Shoes
totally dumped support for ruby 1.8
building using rake and libtool
left the make files (it's working but had to edit files, switched to rake for now until i get a better idea of what's going on in autotmake etc) but do we need a so massive engive for building ?
--> dig into rake-compiler
find how to cleanly get rid of config.h
Gimp is caching data (pluginrc) about the procedures (menulabel for example), to force an update, re-save the plug_in
cannot call some procedures in interactive mode anymore on 2.9, temporary on beta ? new filters on Gegl ?
Fixed ! gimp.rb -- Param#transform --
(when in Image context, RubyFu.register sends back at run time a Gimp::ParamDef.DRAWABLE as third mandatory argument
this causes problems if consecutive code expect a subclass of Drawable, a Layer or a Channel, we need to "Cast" to the appropriate Class before processing, ie: Layer.create(data) )
Fixed ! conversion.c -- GimpParam2rb -> switch (type) -> case GIMP_PDB_STRING:
Fix bad crash with 'gimp_procedural_db_proc_info' on deprecated procedures
because they returned NULL values (some return values are explicitely missing because of the deprecation)
Do we need cheks on other GimpParamData union members ? (see gimp.h)
changed ruby method names in rbgimpproceduraldb.c
This will tell git you want to start ignoring the changes to the file
git update-index --assume-unchanged app.yaml
When you want to start keeping track again
git update-index --no-assume-unchanged app.yaml

Make sure all the useful parts of the C API were wrapped.
Weird crash occurs in the call test when testing the incoming arguments?
The color code has turned out to be sub-par, lots of room for improvment.
Figure out how the brush selection should really work.
Add a reset button to the interactive dialog.
Add more control to widget resizing for the dialog.
Add autoconf checks for gettext support.
- Ruby gettext may be available as a gems package or a non-gems package.
The check for gettext should not expect either method of its existance.
Add check in build environment for irb.
- If irb doesn't exist, don't build ruby-fu-console.c or install console
mode script.
Add extraction of translatable strings to build process.
Add an INSTALL file that explains the requirements and process to build and
install gimp-ruby.
Add a browse button to console mode.
- This may require creation of a PDB browser that can return the framework
of a call to the selected PDB item in a Ruby compatible format.
