denying authorization leads to a loop

From the mapcomplete.org page, I clicked a POI, and then the 'please login to add a picture' button. I got the expected oath flow page on osm.org. I wasn't ok with the permissions (#2283), so I clicked deny. I then got sent back to mapcomplete.org (fine), but instead of a "login was not successful" notice or something like that, I was then sent back to osm.org to login, with no normie method to break out. (Of course closing the window or editing the url in the middle worked.)
