I’d like to be able to set a “time offset” for the displayed clock time. I don’t see an obvious way to do that, and it may not (currently) be possible.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
The use case is showing a clock time that is X amount of time ahead of the current time. (I don’t have a use case for setting the clock behind instead of ahead.) This can be done with many standard alarm clocks (in the US) by manually setting an “incorrect” time, such as adding 15 minutes to the current time. For some people, this encourages waking up, getting out of bed, and getting ready earlier.
I do not want to change the NTP sync or time zone. Any change to displaying a different time than the actual time should be done in a way that preserves the benefits of a smart clock, allowing secure network communication, time sync, automatic daylight saving time adjustments, and so on.
I could not find any similar questions/discussions for PixelIt, although I have investigated options for other Ulanzi TC001 firmware.
I’m using the Ulanzi TC001 clock hardware with PixelIt 2.5.0.
Update: I did try setting the UTC offset to a fractional number and so far, it serves my purpose. For example, if my UTC offset were normally -7.00, and I want the clock’s time display to be 15 minutes early, then the UTC offset of -6.75 does accomplish that. However, I’m not clear if that affects the time display only, or impacts the system time of the device. I’m also not clear if a non-integer value here could affect other things, such as negotiation of secure connections (such as TLS).
