Installation fails when target destination is unformatted with partitions #326
Comments
I'm not able to replicate this. I installed from an 8GB USB drive to a 5TB hard drive connected via a USB adapter: The installation completed successfully. I'm able to boot from the USB-connected hard drive on this machine and a different machine. @curiousercreative Can you please provide more information about your target drive? Can you get the installer log after it crashes? ( |

@jacobgkau I think the installer crash I'm getting requires some specific state that my internal nvme happens to be in (where does that partition UUID come from?). Oddly, I was able to install to that exact internal nvme yesterday, I've just since restored it from a prior image. |
Try installing from a USB instead of from the recovery partition. |
@mmstick this is booted from USB thumb drive (sdb) and installing to 10Gbps USB-C nvme (sda) which has Pop! already installed. The installation will proceed and succeed if I first wipe sda.
|
Probably the same issue, but here's the inverse: 10gbps USB-C nvme (sda) installing to USB thumb drive (sdb) when the disk has not already been formatted. If I wipe the thumbdrive prior to install, all is well.
