Usage guide
First off, some notes about the author's setup. He runs Ubuntu 14.04, and uses Plex Media Server to manage his music, which runs as it's own user. He runs headphones as debian-transmission in order to avoid permissions conflicts with transmission-daemon. He've added plex's user to the debian-transmission group, changed the renamer's folder permissions to 0775, and file permissions to 0664.
There are a couple of things you'll want to take care of before you get started. The biggest issue is MusicBrainz- the main site is very very unreliable and slow. You'll want (need) to either:
- Run your own server, but be sure to subscribe to updates from the main site, or you'll miss out on new artists
- If hosting locally on a relatively quick machine, you should notice a speed boost from reduced latency
- Find a robust mirror (check out the VIP page)
Once you get up and running, you'll likely want to get started by importing your existing music collection, since headphones will download new releases for you. You may do this several ways....
Head over to the manage page and check the "Scan Music Library" tab. Make sure to check the "Automatically scan library" and "Auto-add new artists"
This is not working for me, as of 8/27/2014, your milage may vary. In the logs I get:
27-Aug-2014 10:28:01 - ERROR :: Thread-42 : Request raise HTTP error with status code 500 (remote server error).
27-Aug-2014 10:28:01 - ERROR :: Thread-42 : Error calling Last.FM method: library.getartists
