This is continuation of discussion started here:

perceptia/perceptia_dev#2

To summarize: we want to create place for crates related to various desktop functionalities to prevent their fragmentation.

I guess the general road map should be:

  • decide which repo we use as a base
  • transfer ownership to rusty-desktop (if base repo contains both sys and rusty part I will create new repo for sys and populate it with base to keep history and not needed parts can be removed)
  • I will assign up to two owners to each team and they will be responsible for further management
  • check if we have needed crate names and whoever has it gives team owners access to crates.io

Would that be fair if I assign:

as owners of teams? Their responsibilities would be to take care about given component (decide how we start and later development and publishing). Of course anybody can join team as member and this is more assigning responsibilities than permissions.

I've got no problem with any of that.

Sorry for the overall of activity from my side in the last days, I am super busy with my bachelor thesis, but that will be done on monday. So sometime next week I will probably move my libinput bindings (@Meptl) and comment everywhere on everything.

@DarkElement I recently noticed, I do not have the power of moving or anything related to the settings of input.rs anymore? It is not like I want I move it or anything, but I kinda dislike not having complete control over my project anymore, is there a way you as the organisation owner could fix that?

Also what happened to perceptia? It seems the last commit has been a while and @Slabity and myself are the only ones maintaining anything here (not that there is currently much to do).

In the meantime I fleshed out my gbm bindings, put them on crates.io and also used them in smithay (they work and are already compatible with @Slabity's drm-rs). I would also like to move those over to this organisation, if anybody else is still interested in this collaboration. Otherwise I could also host them over at the new https://github.com/Smithay organisation, where they likely will get some more attention.

Seeing as half the accounts haven't had activity for several months, I think it would be best to move the maintained crates over to the Smithay organization where there's more activity and support.

@Drakulix, could you add me to the org?

@vberger You cool with that?

@Drakulix check if you have rights now. I didn't have time for perceptia because of other projects. I may resume work in couple of months.

@vberger You cool what that?

Yeah, sure.

@DarkElement We will be moving over to https://github.com/Smithay .

Feel free to take a look and collaborate once you have time again.
