One area I'd like to explore is really good moderation tools. I'm consequently soliciting desiderata.

Comments from existing moderators include:

From @[email protected]:

The reported post and the posts in context of the thread where it was posted.
The history of previous reports for the reported user.
recent actions taken by other servers your server has chosen to follow.
The action taken on this report by other servers.
A list of other reported users and post from the same instance.

Mastodon issues

Mastodon issues relating to the moderation ui can be found here

1685 A related mastodon issue reports that the person who raised the moderation issue gets no feedback if/when the moderator(s) take action, and that it would be good if they did. 20899 is basically the same.
