Since the latest EFI release ( 1.2.3 ) and on OSX 10.13.6 the caps lock key's light seems to remain turned on after the first click.
The key functionality turns on and off correctly, it's just the light of the key that seems to be unable to turn back off.

Hi, I noticed that issue too. In a native Mac, long press and short press Caps Lock have different functions, but it seems not working well on a hack.

By the way, the solution is to uncheck Use the Caps Lock key to switch to and from ABC in System Preferences - Input Sources. Here is the screenshot:

Mhhh, I took a look at that panel just before getting out from job but that checkbox wasn’t visible in my window.
I have italian as primary language, I tried to add english as secondary option and your third checkbox appeared on my window, but no signals of the second one. Maybe it’s language related? I’ll make a few more tests tonight and let you know. Anyway I’ve noticed this problem just from this last update, I don’t know if it’s a matter of kexts or if something changed in osx 10.13.6

Add other language source may help (e.g. Chinese Pinyin - Simplified). It's mainly because the latest EFI folder changes ApplePS2SmartTouchPad.kext to VoodooPS2Controller.kext. Maybe I need to consider whether to put it back. The ApplePS2SmartTouchPad.kext seems like a dead project.

I've tried adding Chinese and that option pops up. As soon as I disabled it the caps lock key's light turned off, but after pressing the key two times it remained on again.
Anyway it's not that bad, just something annoying.

That's weird. After I uncheck the second option, the caps lock works perfectly. One press, light on. Two press, light off. Maybe you can try more times.

I tried adding more languages, turning on and off the checkbox and rebooting but the problem is still there. The only thing I didn’t tried is to set Chinese as primary language, but I guess it would not be a good solution anyway.

My suggestion is only keep English and Chinese input source at first.
Then uncheck the box.
After that, delete Chinese and add back Italian input source.

My primary language is English, and my Caps Lock key behaves normal when changing Italian and English.

I finally got back from vacation and I found out that I wasn't doing anything wrong. Disabling that checkbox actually works, unfortunately there's something that is breaking that method in "Karabiner-Elements" that I'm using for keyboard mapping.
I'll try to sort something out, but at this point It's not something system related.
I guess that this Issue could be closed.
Thank a lot for your help!

EDIT:
I found a workaround for anyone using Karabiner.
Just go into Preferences->Devices and activate the checkbox "Manipulate LED" on the apple keyboard.

I followed the steps above and set the caps lock still not working.
