When a patron requests an item on Friday afternoon, just before closing, the "required by" date can default to Saturday while the system won't try to provide the book until Monday. This leads to a logically inconsistent state and prevents the patron from picking up their order.
Our proposed solution to this is to remove the "required by" form field from the Hold request form. Our circulation staff don't use it for anything, FOLIO doesn't require it, and it can lean to this sticky situation happening once in a while.
