Not sure if there are serious implications here, but so many things get cross listed it seems less useful.

The "appliances" category also seems a little redundant. George and I were also talking about potentially making categories distinct (indexing as is:appliance versus just searching for "appliances"), which would help clear this up somewhat.

The distinction between the two used to be very helpful. For instance, if I was looking for a short term sublease I would look in the subleases category and if I was looking for a full year lease I would look in the apartments category.

I think you're right that now it seems people are just always posting to both categories, and now it is much harder to search for what you want.

I would consider making the categories mutually exclusive, otherwise it seems people will post to as many categories as possible in order to maximize visibility.
