IWD 2018 Campaign
Excited to share that Women Techmakers and Google are supporting your International Women's Day Celebration events. Women Techmakers IWD meetups are led by the incredible WTM Leads but all GDGs (and all genders) are encouraged to participate.
WTM Leads are GDG organizers who run diversity and inclusion within the GDG Meetups. They are added to WTM Leads mailing group and Slack channel to connect the WTM Leads around the world. They are also listed on the public WTM Leads directory. You don't need to be a woman to be a WTM Lead.
To become a WTM Lead, apply using this form and let Kubra know about your application. ([email protected])
Send an email to Kubra so she can check ([email protected])
We encourage all the GDG and Google Cloud Dev Community chapters' organizers to have a Women Techmakers Lead in the community to drive diversity and inclusion activities. WTM Leads don't have to be women. Any gender can apply to become a WTM Lead who wants to bring diversity and inclusion into place. If you are not a WTM Lead or don't have a WTM Lead in your chapter, you can still run this event to recognize women in your community. This may also be a good opportunity to recruit a WTM Lead to your GDG.
To celebrate and recognize women in your community, run a IWD18 meetup between March 1st and April 30th. Invite women and non binary people to speak and attend at your event. You can join forces with the other women in tech organizations in your city. The theme of this year is "Building the new Horizon"
Here is the organizer guide about all details and resources.
Register your IWD Meetup using event proposal form so we can be aware of your event. This is the form in the organizer guide.
Create a meetup on your GDG Chapter's meetup page using "IWD" in the title or description. This will make sure that your event will be listed on the public WTM Map.
You can use another event tool to get registration, but you have to create a meetup so we can track of your meetup.
You can submit your reports into this folder by using the template.
Submit sponsorship request form and expect a confirmation email.
If you are an active WTM Lead, you can attend one of the Women Techmakers Summit that Google hosts. Check out this slide and apply for a seat.
Please make the payments your self and submit the expense reimbursement form. You will be reimbursed within 1 week.
If you have any questions about creating an IWD meetup, connect WTM leads Mentor, Rio Waller and Margaret Maynard Reid so they can help you. Feel free to reach out Kubra ([email protected]) to connect them.
