The Vulkan-Registry repository contains the Vulkan API and Extension Registry, including generated specifications and reference pages, and reference cards. The sources for these documents are found in the separate Vulkan-Docs repository. Vulkan-Registry is used only as a backing store for the web view of the registry at https://registry.khronos.org/vulkan/ . Commits to the main branch of Vulkan-Registry will be reflected in the web view.
This is a new repository as of 2024-12-13, although it serves the same purpose as the previous Vulkan-Web-Registry repository. That repository had grown to enormous size after more than 300 revisions of the Vulkan specifications.
We have now moved to a new publishing model where the registry only contains HTML and PDF versions of the 'latest' (currently Vulkan 1.4) specification, with all extensions included. The previous version-specific forms of the specification are now longer published, and the registry redirects the old URLs to the 'latest' HTML and PDF documents. The previous 'chunked' (one page/chapter) form of the specification has been retired in favor of the Vulkan Documentation Site, and the registry redirects the old chunked links to the corresponding pages of the documentation site.
This form of the registry repository should grow much more slowly than the old Vulkan-Web-Registry.
However, if you need to clone this repository for some reason, it may be a good idea to make a shallow clone if you don’t require the entire repository history.
