I have used Simple Screen every day since the beginning of the pandemic, being very useful for my university course. However, despite the updates, I had noticed that the Spanish translation was somewhat forgotten, leaving untranslated gaps or minor spelling mistakes. For which I have decided to do a major update (almost from scratch) with +300 changes to the pre-existing translation file, achieving an interface almost 99% translated for version 0.4.4

Among some changes, a neutral and grammatically correct Spanish has been used, both in accent and gender [Since Spanish, like other languages such as Arabic and French, present conjunctions and gender modifications in the words "example: es "La Mesa, El papel",El programa -La App."].
Although in languages such as English in which words do not present gender, in Spanish and another languages there is some controversy due to the grammatical rules that consider the gender of the words around the person in which it is applied [Controversy of the He/she ...etc]. That has resulted in some unorthodox practices, and considered grammatically incorrect [in this case by the Royal Academy of the Spanish language (RAE)]: Such as the use of "X" "E" and "@" as a filler without gender.

  • In response to this, the United Nations (UN-ONU) https://www.un.org/es/gender-inclusive-language/guidelines.shtml has currently issued a manual for the correct use of neutral/inclusive language that allows for a formal and standardized "genderless" text, which was used in the proposed translation.
This change will mostly be reflected in text sentences like: "Are you sure that you want to overwrite it?" which should be translated as: ¿Estás segura de que quieres sobrescribirlo?(For She) or ¿Estás seguro de que quieres sobrescribirlo?(For He and They... and considered as plural [and subject to controversy as being a "masculine"])
Therefore, based on the suggestions of the United Nations, the phrase can be translated using neutral words. In this case, the final result is: "¿Quieres sobreescribirlo?" or "Realmente deseas sobreescribirlo? [Which in fact, this is the most accurate translation of the phrase Do you want to overwrite it?]
Thus achieving a simpler and more inclusive translation for the community without affecting correct grammar and gender perspective

It is not my intention to "compulsorily" implement an inclusive language in the program and much less if it is not in accordance with respect for grammatical rules. (So if you consider it pertinent, feel free to notify me and I will modify where required so that it shows the default masculine adjective "Estas Seguro" "Are you sure" in the questions).

Notable changes

  • the OpenGL settings screen, Recording, and Schedules are already 99% translated (since its implementation SSR has always shown text in English)
  • Almost complete translation of Log Messages, Respecting Marteen's indications and names of Processes and Unix components
  • Translation in accent and Neutral gender in Question sentences. In accordance with the RAE and the United Nations
  • Minor spelling corrections
-It has been added in the description of the Timestamps that these will be generated automatically in the ISO 8601 format (Year-month-day-hour-min-sec)
  • Added Spanish Comment and Keywords to "SSR.desktop" 2022-03-01 14:53:23 CST [Last Change]

Da To Do List

  • - It would be useful for the community to agree on a translation for the word "Stream"

this as the word is referred to multiple times in both Open GL and Logs however there is an ambivalent use of this word to be used as "Fuente, Flujo, Entrada" Or it could even be used directly as Stream, since the word itself in its context is not part of Spanish

  • - I mean a 99% translation because in the recording schedule window, the start/pause dropdown list, although it can be translated in Qt linguist, the program does not show the change so it continues to show Start/pause

  • There were more than 300 changes, so if you find any errors, feel free to let me know and I will correct it as soon as possible.

  • Although I have proposed the use of the words and the name of "Programmed Mode" for the "schedule mode" (since in context the literal translation of schedule: "Horario"), it makes very little sense or logic in Spanish, I am open to suggestions, or the community consensus as in word "Stream"

I consider it useful to add them, although I leave it up to the discretion if it is a necessary change or could be eliminated since a part of the keywords in English are also used within Spanish because they are not original words to the language
