Refunds

We’ve been giving them if people ask in advance. Flora and Alethea can ask DCC process them. If you want to re-fill the seat, DCC has to re-activate the signup form and you need to send the new person the link. One thing we’ve done is ask the new person to come to the workshop anyway and then sign up at the workshop as this makes sure all the timings work out.

Partial attendance

I’ve tried to discourage it but people ask and do it anyway. I have been saying “No” outright to people who ask if they can just attend one specific session. I take this to mean that they don’t want to know about some of the other material and the curriculum is not set up well to take ala carte. If someone says they have a meeting/class from X to Y then I’ll give them “It would be best if you came the whole time but it’s ok”.

People who just come

An open question. MJC’s perspective is it’s more important to be fair than to fill seats. Use the sign-in sheet to confirm that people who are there are registered (and also as a hint to people that if they’re not on the list, they shouldn’t be there). Confirm with a head count before starting the intro and very politely ask people who are not registered to leave while taking their name and email to make sure they are on the waiting list for the next workshop.

Materials

Colored post-its, name tags, and notecards: Alethea and Flora do not have piles of these laying around. Potentially ask them to order some a week or 2 before a workshop.
