Introduction

This software was built with the generous support of the State of Michigan Library through an LSTA grant. It supports the Discovering Michigan Grant, which has the aim of making materials from historically under-represented groups in Michigan available online. It does this through the a three-fold process: the digitization of materials from three local community groups; the construction of an online portal; and the creation of educational materials for classroom use.

This portal runs the Spotlight software, displaying materials made available through an external OAI feed and allowing users to curate unique exhibits and collections of materials.

This guide is divided into two sections: an guide for systems administrator and IT to manage the internal systems and a guide for portal managers to oversee the collection and curation of content in the web-based interface.
