Topics

AV4EV_Sim update

• The Autoware CoE team at UPenn completed the live* and simulation demo at the Safety21 symposium at CMU last week.
• The Eve autonomy cart and the Mill19 environment were added to our AV4EV_sim and demoed during Safety21. Everything is still work in progress
  
• Demo video of Eve autonomy cart and Mill19 Environment in simulation
• Need to add more assets(bushes, trees, etc) in the environment and update materials and textures
• Autoware integration is also in progress. The team uses lidarslam_ros2 to build pointcloud map from Lidar recording.
• This package requires Lidar topic input as well as /tf and /tf_static transform topics to build the map
• Encountered errors using the /tf topics from our simulator to generate pointcloud. Currently working to resolve this.

Autonomous Karting Series update

• Had the first meeting last week to go over rule changes for next year's national grand prix races
• Proposed combining the open and reactive category races into a single race. Potentially introducing multi-kart racing
• The host suggested a new rule that all data used for racing must be collected during the practice sessions. Data from previous years should not be allowed. There is some ambiguity about this new rule and how it can be enforced, The host started a poll to get the teams' opinions on this rule
