The proposed changes seem to align well with the values.

Clearly, the change proposes to add an additional step where the interested party sends their suggestions in a Word or PowerPoint file.

  1. 🚀 Impact in research, teaching, and practice: As the change is enhancing the mail communication process, it might directly influence the teaching and practice. By asking for suggestions in a specific, collated document format, it could encourage more structured feedback or suggestions. This reinforces the value of research, teaching, and effective communication.

  2. 🛠️ Rigor, reliability, and reproducibility: The change doesn't directly contribute to this value as it doesn't mention anything about the methods of analyzing the suggestion or how reliable or reproducing the results are. Yet, it can be interpreted as an initiative towards a standardized method of receiving suggestions that could enhance reliability in the documentation.

  3. ♻️ Continuous improvement, openness, sustainability: The change encourages continuous improvement and openness by inviting suggestions. However, it does not specifically mention the sustainability aspect.

  4. 🙏 Participation, support, and diversity: As the change welcomes suggestions, it fosters participation and support. Also, encouraging people to provide suggestions can indirectly promote diversity in thought and ideas.

  5. 🧑‍🎓️ Learning: There's no direct reference to learning, but indirectly, the feedback could lead to potential improvement and growth.

The only potential concern could be the preference for Word or PowerPoint files, which are proprietary software. Given the stated values, an open-source alternative would be more aligned with the values. But overall, the changes seem to be positively encouraging contribution and participation.
