Can you share an example of you using the extension? A link I could try maybe? Why does it not work with Arxiv links? What's the benefit of using open-in-scihub and what's the bad alternative?

  • Here's the demo video ✨:

https://youtu.be/NjJVSYgGVqk

  • It does work, for arxiv link, I've tried it few a times before..

  • Benefit, being giving access to almost every research paper on a single hotkey { ctrl + shift + h }

  • Didn't got any alternative, there not seems anyone who gets such automation via extension

  • Also in future updates, I'm planning to make a landing page for Open-in-Sci-Hub which would support direct downloading of research paper just within a hotkey..

  • Can you confirm this Arxiv link (Attention is all you need) works? It didn't work for me
  • Can't you already have access to research papers by visiting their sites? Like I can visit Arxiv and download a research paper? On what sites does this work?
  • Can you share with me actual links to research papers I can only access via sci-hub or clearly tell me what advantage I have using this extension?

Hey @JosiasAurel
Thanks for mentioning me arxiv links bug. You were absolutely right about the Arxiv links, my earlier comment was unclear.

  • So, Have fixed for arxiv links, direct opening into pdfs!

  • Yep, in case of arxiv as they themself keep it open-to-access, it's possible to direct access from arxiv, but in few of reseach paper cases few of publisher's papers aren't available on arxiv and are chances of available on Sci-Hub.

  • I can’t share specific Sci-Hub links here due to their nature, but the advantage of the extension is to have the best automation, just within few taps( Hotkey ), instead of manually searching for these papers over the internet. Also, majorly for researchers, most helpful for investing time on important things.

Let me know if you’d like further clarification! 😊

Maybe I was unclear. I'm asking for some research papers that would be otherwise inaccessible without sci-hub. Give me links to research papers on sites (jstor? ieee?) where one would need an account or there is some sort of gate-keeping that sci-hub would help with? I can't approve this if I can't assert it works on at least a few websites.

Hey, I hope these are sufficient for kinda proving, but the side I wanted to make particularly remarkable was the automation part;
the thing is the easiness which it creates, saving mindless searching time.

let me know, if anymore help you need..

Only the last IEEE link you provided there works. Is that an issue in the extension?

Can you try opening the first two IEEE links with the extension on your side and share screenshots?
That is these two

I've added a function in options, by changing sub domain in it.. that works.. You can try out that feature later.
Thanks @JosiasAurel .. 🤠

Also, is it required to be merged?
