THESE ROLES ARE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE BUT WILL BE ONCE THE INCUBATOR PROJECT IS UP AND RUNNING AND THE V1 ATD PROJECT HAS BEEN APPROVED.

Product Manager

Access the Data (AtD) is building a data catalog for the Los Angeles community. We need a Product Manager who can take over the product roadmap and continue working with the community to make sure AtD continues on a path towards helping connect people to policy through open data. The product manager will need to familiarize themself with the domain of open data and data sharing. The Product Manager will also need to onboard and work with a project manager to create a project plan and build a team of developers, designers, and researchers to bring AtD to versions 1 and 2.

Duties include:

Skills needed or willing to be learned:

  • Navigating and managing Kanbans (project boards)
  • Creating and managing Zoom rooms
  • GitHub flavored markdown for wiki editing
  • Open Data

Tools to be/get familiar with:

  • GitHub
  • CKAN
  • Google Drive/Docs/Slides
  • Figma

Time commitment: 1-2 years 6-8 hours a week

Project Manager

Access the Data is building a test website for its data catalog. We need a Project Manager who can help keep us and our Product Manager keep this project on track while we cross the finish line. Our goal is to launch this test site by the end of the semester. After that, there will be a brief break and planning will need to begin on the next project.

The Project Manager will work closely with our team of developers and designers to track and create issues on our project board and conduct weekly check-ins.

Duties include:

  • Managing the Kanban/project boards
  • Leading team meetings/running Zoom rooms
  • Onboarding/Offboarding volunteers
  • Planning and updating semesterly goals (aka our "onesheet")
  • Managing the Project Charter
  • Scheduling meetings
  • Running retrospective exercises
  • Creating documentation

Skills needed or willing to be learned:

  • Creating and managing Google calendar events
  • Creating and managing Zoom rooms
  • Creating project documentation (Project charters, communications, etc.)

Time commitment: 5-6 hours a week

  • 1 50-minute PM meeting a week
  • 1 50-minute Team meeting every Wednesday 5:00-5:50pm PT
  • 3-4 hours of work
