Indoor Modelling with JOSM

Preparation

  • install JOSM
  • add the indoorHelper and PicLayer Plugin to JOSM
  • get the images of the “Rettunspläne”, you might want to use some kind of document scanner or image editing software to fix camera distortions (eg. make right angles right again)

Modelling

  • open josm and click on the green arrow Download map data … button
  • zoom in on the HPI and make a selection that includes the building you want to model, then click on the download button
  • click on the Imagery item in the menu bar and select New picture layer from file and choose your Rettungsplan file
  • in the layers window/panel select the new picture layer
  • now you can position, scale, … it with the tools on the left side (for some reason the Rettungpläne and the osm data seem to be a little bit off)
  • under the File menu bar item create a New layer
  • select the building in the old layer and copy it with ctrl + c
  • switch to the new layer and insert the building ctrl + alt + v
  • select the draw nodes tool in the left item bar and start to model the outline of a room
  • after connecting the last point with the starting point add the room info in the indoor mapping helper window (level, object and name) and click apply; do this for every room
  • when finished delete the original building outline as well as nodes eg. doors that you have copied, you can use alt + left click to cycle through overlapping selections
  • to delete click the delete button on your keyboard
  • under File click save as and save the file as geojson tagging example
