I think these changes will benefit most people initially running this setup, providing a bit more cleanliness by moving everything into it's own namespace, and making the default EXTERNAL_URI suitable for kubectl port-forward.
Please note this branch includes the changes I already proposed in #2, so only the last two commits are actually relevant.
