The LiveUsers Plugin enhances the AVideo platform by providing real-time insights into viewer interactions. Designed to integrate seamlessly with both Video-On-Demand (VOD) and live video streams, the plugin enables real-time viewer count displays and offers configurations for visibility control, making it indispensable for user engagement and content strategy management.

Key Features and Configurations of the LiveUsers Plugin

1. Real-Time Viewer Count:

  • The plugin updates viewer counts in real-time, offering insights into audience size for both live streams and VOD content.

2. Configurable Viewer Visibility:

  • Hide Total Views and Live Viewers (doNotDisplayCounter): When enabled, this option hides both total and live viewer counts, providing a cleaner interface.
  • Hide Total Views Only (doNotDisplayTotal): This setting allows the admin to hide the total view count across the platform.
  • Hide Live Viewers Only (doNotDisplayLiveCounter): Activating this setting will hide only the live viewer counts during streams.

3. Targeted Visibility Options:

  • Show Live users only for admin (showLiveUsersOnlyForAdmin): Restricts the visibility of live user counts to administrators only, ensuring privacy and discretion in viewer metrics.
  • Show Live users on Livestreams (showLiveUsersOnLivestream): Displays live viewer counts specifically on livestreams, enhancing the dynamic interaction during live events.
  • Show Live users on VOD videos (showLiveUsersOnVODVideo): Enables live viewer counts on Video-On-Demand content, providing ongoing engagement metrics.
  • Show Live users on LiveLinks (showLiveUsersOnLiveLinks): This option shows how many users are watching through LiveLinks, expanding insights across various content delivery methods.

4. Enhanced Data Management:

  • Save Total Views When Saving a Recorded Live (saveTotalViewsWhenSaveARecordedLive): Ensures that total views are preserved when live sessions are recorded and saved, important for historical viewership analysis.

5. Operational Settings:

  • Timeout (timeout): This parameter controls the update frequency of viewer counts, allowing adjustments for performance optimization.
